Protozoan Video: Smaller Than The Eye Can See

Kids love to explore life under the microscope. It is a fascinating area of scientific study. This video will introduce children to a variety of tiny critters that are found in pond water. The program consists of a 14-minute video and a 46-page reproducible teacher handbook.

The video reveals seven organisms that can be found in a single drop of pond water. They are from the Kingdom Protista: the Amoeba, Paramecium, Peranema, Volvox and Stentor. And from the Animal Kingdom, the Daphnia and Hydra. Your students will see how small each one is with respect to an ant and they will learn how each one eats, moves and reproduces. There is also a mini-lesson in health as the video explains why drinking pond water can be harmful. The 46-page teacher handbook that is included with this program is packed with valuable worksheets, information pages and illustrations. This program can be the key to opening the door to a completely new world of protozoans!
